Training

Visit our partners at Running Etc. for all of your running shoes and apparel needs. Their experienced and knowledgeable staff can get you fit up in the right gear for you to make the most of your training. They also have weekly training group runs that can help get you to the starting line fit and ready to go!

Awards

Top three overall male and female and top three male and female runners in each age category will receive custom locally made awards; 12 and under 13-15, 16-19, 20-24,25-29,30-34,35-39, 40-44, 45-49, 50-54, 55-59, 60-64, 65-69, 70 and over.

Volunteer

The success of MettleEvents races depends on volunteers who give their time and energy in a variety of ways in support of these events. Many volunteer positions for this event still need to be filled. We ask that you, your family or group please consider signing up for one of these positions.  REGISTER TO VOLUNTEER

HEART OF GHENT 10K

Starting at 8:00 AM the 10K course takes in the best of Ghent.  Starting on Spotswood Ave next to Blair High School, the course runs through the 21st St corridor, down Llewellyn Ave around Harrison Opera House and through Botetourt Gardens, down Olney past Chrysler Museum into the Neon District with great muraled walls, up Brambleton Ave and down the famous Colley Ave corridor in the heart of Ghent.  The race finishes back at Blair Middle School for a great post-race party.  

GREAT POST RACE PARTY

A post race party will be held in the parking lot beside Blair Middle School. Food will be provided by local eateries and locally crafted beer from local brewing companies will be on tap. There will also be live music by the band Milk Crate Mafia. The party continues all day throughout Ghent. Many restaurants and businesses will be offering specials throughout the day.

BANDS ON THE RUN

Five bands will be playing at party zones along the course to keep runners engergized and spectators entertained.  

Bands will be announced in the weeks leading up to the event.  

BREWERY CUP CHALLENGE

To register as a brewery team, simply select the brewery team member option when registering and select your brewery team. Your team captain will need to create a team upon initial entry. This option is only available for the 10K run.  Special awards for the largest and fastest Brewery Cup teams.
